01 · WHAT DO I NEED?
Before you begin, what do you need right now?
Take a look at where you are and what you need from yourself and your support system.
Why Prepare Emotionally
Meet the season before it meets you.
Working through your needs, fears, and family dynamics before birth makes it easier to work through them postpartum. This workbook organizes that reflection into nine short chapters, plus two practical checklists you will actually use: a hospital bag list and a nesting task list.
NIMH notes that family and friends can offer meaningful practical support during the perinatal period, and ACOG encourages perinatal mental health education for patients and families. This workbook stays on reflection and planning. It does not screen, diagnose, or recommend treatment.
Scope and Safety
A reflection tool, not a care plan.
This workbook provides general education and organization. It is not medical advice, mental health advice, psychotherapy, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency support. Discuss anything that feels bigger than a journaling prompt with a licensed mental health provider.
Do not type symptoms, diagnoses, medications, treatment information, or other private health details into this workbook.
