EMDR Therapy

Trauma care can move at a pace that respects you.

Sometimes the past does not stay in the past. EMDR is a structured psychotherapy that may help with trauma-related symptoms when it is clinically appropriate and paced for the individual.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy for post-traumatic stress disorder. It uses a structured protocol that may include guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while you work with distressing memories.

EMDR does not always require a detailed spoken retelling of every part of an experience, but it is still active trauma therapy. Preparation, pacing, readiness, and informed consent are part of deciding whether the approach is appropriate for you.

In our work together you might choose weekly EMDR sessions or a longer intensive format when clinically appropriate. Timing and response vary, so no number of sessions or particular outcome can be promised.
